Loney lifts Dodgers over Pirates

James Loney hit a pinch-hit, three-run 2 win over the Pirates.

Dee Gordon and Matt Kemp each went 2-for-4 with an RBI, while Hiroki Kuroda (11-17) tossed six solid innings to earn the win.

Jeff Locke (0-2), in his second career start, lasted just three innings and allowed three runs on five hits for Pittsburgh, which won the opener of this four-game series on Thursday. Alex Presley homered in defeat.

Gordon's throwing error allowed Garrett Jones to score in Pittsburgh's half of the second, but Rod Barajas quickly got the run back with an RBI double in the home portion.

The Dodgers pushed two across in the third, as Kemp chased home Gordon with a base hit to left and Justin Sellers scored on Juan Rivera's fielder's choice.

Presley went deep leading off the sixth, but LA broke the game open with a four-spot in the bottom half. Gordon produced a run with a fielder's choice, and Loney took Chris Resop over the wall in right, capping the scoring.
