RUSTENBURG (Reuters) - Harry Kewell's return to soccer after an injury lasted just 24 minutes at the World Cup when he was sent off for handling the ball and stopping a certain goal for Group D rivals Ghana on Saturday.
The Australians may well feel aggrieved by Italian referee Roberto Rosetti's decision, though, with the ball hitting Kewell on the upper arm when he appeared to be trying to push out his chest to stop the goal.
The resultant penalty was put away by Asamoah Gyan, leaving the score at 1-1.
The red card was the second in two matches for Australia at the World Cup in South Africa after top scorer Tim Cahill was sent off against Germany.
