FLORHAM PARK, N.J. (AP) New York Jets linebacker David Harris has what coach Todd Bowles calls a ''bad shoulder bruise'' and his status for the regular-season opener is uncertain.

Harris was injured just before halftime of the Jets' 21-20 loss to the Giants on Saturday night. An MRI on the shoulder Sunday revealed no structural damage and X-rays were negative.

The Jets open the season against Cincinnati on Sept. 11, giving Harris some time to rest and recover. The 32-year-old linebacker is considered one of the leaders of Todd Bowles' defense.

Wide receiver Brandon Marshall (hip) was among several players who didn't practice Monday.

Defensive end Muhammad Wilkerson was given a rest day after playing for the first time since breaking his leg in the regular-season finale last December.
