Villarreal, Spain – Villarreal will be without a number of key players ahead of Wednesday's Champions League Group A encounter with Manchester City after it was revealed that defender Cristian Zapata is the latest injury absence.
The Colombia international was added to a lengthy injury list on Monday after it was determined he would be out for five weeks with a sprained knee.
The loss of Zapata comes just one day after Cani, Marco Ruben and Marcos Senna each sustained injuries in a 2-0 win over Rayo Vallecano over the weekend.
Strikers Giuseppe Rossi and Nilmar are both also out, leaving manager Juan Carlos Garrido with a shortage of players for a team that has lost its first three games in the competition.
