Real Salt Lake entered Wednesday's night match against Tigres UNAL as Major League Soccer's only remaining hope to land a spot in the CONCACAF Champions League semifinals.

Like the LA Galaxy, D.C. United and Seattle Sounders before them, RSL failed. But at least they failed spectacularly.

With RSL up 1-0 in the second half and needing another goal to send the tie into extra time -- the Liga MX side won the first leg, 2-0 -- 'Burrito' Martinez and Yura Movsisyan combined for a truly flabbergasting miss:

There was more to fail at.

Just 10 minutes later, RSL were gifted another golden opportunity to equalize after Martinez was taken down outside the box and the referee still decided to call a penalty. But ball don't lie:

Andre-Pierre Gignac would later score in injury time to put away the tie for Tigres, 3-1 on aggregate.

Also, this happened to Aaron Maund's head.

Not a good night for Real Salt Lake. Nor for MLS.
