Montreal, QC – The Montreal Canadiens announced Wednesday that forward and team captain Brian Gionta will be sidelined indefinitely after undergoing successful surgery to repair a tear in his right biceps.
Gionta suffered the injury during the third period of Tuesday's home game against St. Louis.
In 31 games this season, he has registered eight goals and seven assists with a minus-seven rating.
