East Rutherford, NJ (SportsNetwork.com) - New York Giants rookie wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. is heading to the Pro Bowl.

Considered among the most notable snubs when the initial rosters were announced, Beckham was the first alternate at receiver and will replace the injured Calvin Johnson of Detroit.

"It is definitely awesome," said Beckham on Wednesday. "It is something that means a lot to me, and I am definitely going to cherish the moment. I'm very excited to be going to the Pro Bowl."

Beckham is the first Giants rookie wide receiver to earn a Pro Bowl spot and the first Giants rookie to make the trip since tight end Jeremy Shockey in 2002.

In just 12 games this season, Beckham set Giants rookie records with 91 catches for 1,305 yards and 12 touchdowns. He had nine straight games with 90 or more yards receiving to match an NFL record set by Michael Irvin in 1995.
