Genoa, Italy (SportsNetwork.com) - The derby match between Genoa and Sampdoria was postponed on Saturday due to heavy rain at the Luigi Ferraris Stadium, forcing the fixture to be moved to another day.

The match was delayed 15 minutes by the referee, but after he came out to inspect the pitch following the delay, he ruled that the field was unplayable.

No announcement has been made as to when the new date for the contest will be, although there are indications it will be moved to Sunday, Feb. 22.

The two teams enter the contest level on 35 points and only two points out of a Europa League place.
