Milan, Italy – Inter Milan grabbed its fifth-straight Serie A 0 defeat of Parma at the San Siro.
The win lifts Inter to within a point of fourth-place Lazio after the Rome club suffered a 4-0 loss at the hands of Siena earlier in the day. Inter now has 29 points through 17 games.
Parma drops its first result after a string of four-straight draws. It remains in the bottom-half of the table on 19 points.
Inter claimed a three-goal lead by halftime as Diego Milito notched goals in the 13th and 41st minutes while Thiago Motta added one of his own in the 18th minute.
The San Siro outfit did not stop there, as Giampaolo Pazzini extended the lead in the 56th minute. Marco Davide Faraoni then scored his first goal for the club in the 79th minute to complete the rout.
Javier Zanetti nearly gifted Parma a consolation goal in the second half as he directed a through-ball into his own net, but the assistant referee flagged the intended target for being in an offside position when the pass was played and the goal was disallowed to preserve Inter's clean sheet.
Siena 4, Lazio 0
Siena, Italy - Lazio saw its four-game unbeaten run in Serie A play come to an end in humiliating fashion on Saturday, falling to Siena, 4-0, at the Stadio Comunale.
Mattia Destro scored the opener in the 11th minute before Emanuele Calaio doubled the lead from the penalty spot in the 35th.
Lazio was then reduced to 10 men when goalkeeper Albano Bizzarri denied a goal-scoring opportunity with an infraction in the box. Calaio converted the penalty kick to complete his brace. Destro also bagged his second goal, tacking on a fourth for Siena in the 81st minute.
Siena ends its six-game unbeaten run in Serie A action to improve to 18 points on the year, while Lazio remains in fourth place on 30 points.
