Corinthians Take the Libertadores Title

The Pacaembu stadium vibrated with screaming Corinthians' fans when the dream of winning the Libertadores da America Cup became a reality.

The Brazilian team beat Argentina's Boca Juniors 2 -0 at the Wednesday night match.

Corinthians' forward Emerson made the crowd go wild authoring both goals that guaranteed the title. Emerson only recently appeared on the soccer-crazy Brazilian crowd radar at age 30, but has a nice collection of national titles for Flamengo, Fluminense, and now Corinthians.

"I love these matches. People that have followed my story know how important this is [to me]. I'm not gonna cry. Today, I am happy." Emerson told Globo.com.

In the moment of victory, he remembered his controversial end as part of Fluminense.

"One year ago, they took me out; accused me of things I didn't do. They messed up with me. But I am a professional and there are a lot of people on my side. Now, I am a Libertadores Champion," Emerson said.

Corinthians is the ninth Brazilian team to proudly raise the Libertadores Cup. More impressively, the team's title win came after a solid participation in the tournament with 8 wins and 7 ties. It is only the seventh time in the tournament's history that a team won the title without losing a single match.
