New York, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - Connecticut is once again atop the women's college basketball poll.

The defending champion Huskies returned to the top spot in the Associated Press women's rankings after last week's 87-62 rout of then-No. 1 South Carolina.

UConn spent the first two weeks as the No. 1 team in the country before a loss at Stanford in November. The Huskies were ranked second last week before handing South Carolina its first loss and this week earned all 35 first-place votes for 875 total points from a nationwide media panel.

The Gamecocks spent 12 weeks at the top and slipped one spot to second, with Baylor, Notre Dame, Maryland and Tennessee holding from third through sixth.

Oregon State, Louisville, Florida State and Duke round out this week's top 10.

The second 10 features Kentucky, Arizona State, Iowa, Mississippi State, Texas A&M, unbeaten Princeton, North Carolina, Stanford, Rutgers and Chattanooga. None of those 10 teams moved more than one spot from last week.

Nebraska, Florida Gulf Coast, James Madison, George Washington and Syracuse are the last five teams ranked. Florida Gulf Coast is ranked for the first time in school history, while James Madison is ranked for the first time in six years.

Georgia and South Carolina fell out this week.
