Indianapolis, IN (SportsNetwork.com) - Rob Chudzinski will remain with the Indianapolis Colts for at least one more season after the in-demand assistant and the team agreed to deal to make him its associate head coach.

Chudzinski, a former head coach in Cleveland who also had previous offensive coordinator stints with the Browns and Carolina Panthers, was considered a top candidate to fill offensive coordinator vacancies in San Francisco and St. Louis.

The 46-year-old spent last season as a special assistant to Colts head coach Chuck Pagano after being fired by the Browns after just one season leading the team.

Chudzinski's one-year contract with Indianapolis had expired on Monday.

"We're excited to keep Chud in our family," Pagano said. "He's been a critical part of our operation and we're looking forward to sharing even more success in the future."

The Browns finished just 4-12 in Chudzinski's lone year as head coach, leading to his sudden dismissal at the conclusion of the 2013 season.
