Not too long ago, Charcandrick West wanted to be the NFL's next Randy Moss.
He'll settle for a job at running back these days. The former undrafted ballcarrier out of Abilene Christian is lighting up Chiefs training camp, according to reports.
He's even impressing the man in charge of his pro football fate.
"Charcandrick, he can do everything," head coach Andy Reid told the Kansas City Star.
West's old aspirations might help him win a roster spot. He's an electric, Darren Sproles-type receiver out of the backfield with 4.27 speed.
Reid said the second-year back has to learn to block like Sproles can. But as a receiver and a ballcarrier, he's a tantalizing option.
West will never be confused with Jamaal Charles. But just having Charles around is helping him grow into a ballcarrier that might be worthy of a roster spot.
"For me, being able to be in the meeting room with him, hang out with him and learn from him is a blessing," West said. "I try to do what he does -- I try to do it better."
