Madrid, Spain (SportsNetwork.com) - Atletico Madrid announced the signing of forward Alessio Cerci from Italian side Torino on Monday, with Cerci joining the Spanish champions on a three-year contract.
"Atletico Madrid and Torino have reached an agreement for the transfer of Alessio Cerci to our club, pending a medical and the signing of the contract," read a statement from Atletico. "The Italy international will be tied to the club for the next three seasons."
The 27-year-old has been capped 13 times by Italy and was a member of the Azzurri's World Cup squad this summer.
Over the past two seasons Cerci has tallied 21 goals and 19 assists for Torino, and he joins an Atletico side that has undergone a big overhaul with players like Diego Costa, Thibaut Courtois, Filipe Luis and David Villa leaving the club, while Cerci joins a group of new arrivals that includes Antoine Griezmann, Mario Mandzukic, Raul Jimenez, Jan Oblak and Guilherme Siqueira.
