The NBA announced Tuesday that Carmelo Anthony tops its jersey sales list, based on sales at the NBA Store in New York and on nbastore.com since November.

He became the first New York Knicks player to top the list since it began in 2001-02. The Knicks also topped the team merchandise sales list.

Also, the NFL has released their latest top selling jerseys from NFLShop.com and, surprisingly, an off season in New York didn’t bump Giants wide receiver Victor Cruz from the top 10 list.

For the second season in a row, Cruz made the top 10, this time in the eighth spot. Last season, his jersey ranked at No. 5.

According to NFL.com, the San Francisco 49ers sold the most jerseys this season, the first time ever for the franchise.

Washington Redskins quarterback and rookie of the year Robert Griffin III has not only the distinction of being No. 1, but also of setting a sales record, according to NFL.com.

It looks like the league’s Nike deal may have also helped, but no details of that nature were released.

Both Cruz & Anthony are arguably the most prominent Latino players in their leagues and popular with fans in their respective cities.

Cruz is currently a restricted free agent while Anthony's team recently clinched a division title and a playoff spot.
