Coming off a breakout year, Cleveland Browns tight end Gary Barnidge has hit a stumbling block during the team's offseason program and had sports hernia surgery Thursday.
Coach Hue Jackson told reporters that Barnidge -- who had 44 career receptions from 2008-14 before racking up 79 for 1,043 yards and nine touchdowns last season -- will be back in time for start of training camp in July. He reportedly had missed Wednesday's practice.
