Columbus, OH (SportsNetwork.com) - The Columbus Blue Jackets activated defenseman Ryan Murray from injured reserve Friday as the former top prospect nears a return from a knee injury.

Murray, the second overall pick of the 2012 NHL Entry Draft, has missed Columbus' last 36 games and has played in just four this season due to injuries. The 21-year-old sat out the team's first seven contests recovering from surgery on his knee, then experienced a setback in early November.

The Saskatchewan native recorded four goals and 17 assists over 66 regular- season games as a rookie in 2013-14.

Forward Josh Anderson was assigned to AHL Springfield in a corresponding move. The 20-year-old appeared in six games, notching one assist, after being recalled by the Blue Jackets earlier this month.

Columbus will next be in action Saturday at Tampa Bay.
