Blazers' Aldridge has injured quad

Portland Trail Blazers forward LaMarcus Aldridge will likely miss at least part of the preseason after straining his left quadriceps in a recent practice.

Aldridge sustained the injury on Wednesday and was held out of Thursday's practice. Head coach Terry Stotts told reporters afterward that the strain would "take some time" to heal.

The Blazers initially termed Aldridge's injury as a left hip flexor strain before changing the diagnosis. The two-time All-Star previously underwent surgery to repair a torn labrum in his hip near the end of the 2011-12 season.

Aldridge, who averaged a team-best 21.1 points and 9.1 rebounds per game in 2012-13, still has plenty of time to recover for the Blazers' regular-season opener, which takes place Oct. 30 at Phoenix.
