The Buffalo Bills placed Dave Rayner on injured reserve Wednesday with a groin injury.

The Bills signed the journeyman kicker to fill in for Rian Lindell after he suffered a season-ending shoulder injury in a 27-11 loss to the New York Jets in Week 9.

Rayner, who made 10-of-15 field goal in seven games for Buffalo -- his eighth team since breaking into the NFL in 2005, was replaced on the roster by Brandon Coutu.

Taken by Seattle in the seventh round of the 2008 NFL Draft, Coutu most recently spent time on Jacksonville's practice squad before being released December 17. He has yet to appear in an NFL game.
