ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. – Buffalo Bills coach Doug Marrone is focused on keeping his players loose this offseason.
First, he introduced his personal musical playlist at practice — from Johnny Cash to Iggy Azalea.
Now it's airsoft, a game much like paintball, but featuring soft, plastic pellets as ammunition.
Marrone broke routine by canceling practice Wednesday to have his staff and players play a round of airsoft at a nearby facility.
Even Marrone took part, showing off a barely visible mark on his chin, where linebacker Kiko Alonso got him.
Marrone isn't the first coach to play music or use extra-curricular activities as team-building methods. He is intent on devising new ways to develop chemistry and leadership on a team attempting to end a 14-season playoff drought — the NFL's longest active streak.
