Anaheim, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Los Angeles Angels outfielder Josh Hamilton underwent surgery on Wednesday to repair the AC joint in his right shoulder.

Hamilton, 33, is expected to miss 6-to-8 weeks and is doubtful to be ready in time for Opening Day.

The 2010 AL MVP batted .263 with 10 home runs and 44 RBI in just 89 games last season due to a multitude of injuries, which included his right shoulder.

Hamilton will be entering the third season of his five-year, $125 million contract with the Angels.
