A weekly recap of how Mexican internationals fared over the weekend.

Andrés Guardado

We always hear about the great finishers. But if it wasn't for players like Andrés Guardado, those players would have less of an opportunity to become goal-scoring heroes.

On Sunday, the Mexican international winger started the scoring sequence of both Deportivo La Coruña's goals in its 2-0 victory over Racing Santander and midfielder Giovani dos Santos in Spain's La Liga.

A minute into first-half stoppage time, Guardado wasn't very elegant, but managed to get off a pass while falling down on the right wing to Valderón, who sent the ball to Manuel Pablo.

He crossed the ball to Lassad, who scored to the far post.

Only minutes into the second half, Guardado was at it again, this time commencing a counterattack to Lassad, who made a long run and across the left wing, sending the ball to Morel for a give-and-go. Lassad crossed the ball to Xisco, who fired the ball into the top left corner of the net.

Dos Santos came off the bench at halftime for Racing. The closest he came to scoring was in the 55th minute, when his shot barely missed the post.

Deportivo will visit Hercules on Sunday, while Racing hosts Malaga.

Javier Hernández

Chicharito and Manchester United ventured through a mixed week. On Tuesday, Hernández scored a goal to help ManU reach the UEFA Champions League semifinals in a 2-1 second-leg win over English Premier League rival Chelsea to win the series, 3-1. On Saturday, they weren't as fortunate, losing to Manchester City, 1-0, in the English F.A. Cup final at Wembley.

After being called offside earlier in the first half, Hernández barely stayed onside to drill home Ryan Giggs' feed for a 1-0 advantage against Chelsea and his 18th goal of the campaign. United will play FC Schalke (Germany) in the semifinals.

Against City, Hernández entered the match for Antonio Valencia in the 65th minute and never threatened. United and Hernández won't have much time to catch their collective breaths. They visit Newcastle United in an English Premiership encounter on Tuesday before hosting Everton on Saturday.

Francisco Javier Rodríguez

The defender helped PSV Eindhoven regain the Eredivisie lead in the Netherlands with a 2-0 shutout over Heracles on Sunday. But with PSV leading 1-0 in the 75th minute, Maza was playing with fire when the referee awarded Heracles a penalty kick after he fouled a player. It was a good thing that goalkeeper Andreas Isaksson saved the Willie Overtoom's penalty. PSV, which added a 90th-minute goal, is tied with FC Twente on points, but has a better goal difference (plus 46 to plus 28).

Carlos Vela

Chelsea took its Champions League frustrations out on West Bromwich Albion en route to a 3-1 EPL win on Saturday. Vela, who came on for James Morrison in the 73rd minute, set up Chris Brunt's eight-yard header that went straight to goalkeeper Petr Cech in the 83rd minute. WBA plays at Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday.

Hector Moreno

The central defender helped AZ Alkmaar to a 3-1 win over ADO Den Haag in the Dutch First Division on Saturday. AZ moved into fourth place and a possible chance to play in the Europa League next season. AZ plays at Willem II Tilburg on Saturday.

Carlos Salcido

Fulham was off this week and will resume playing at Wolverhampton on Saturday.

Jonathan dos Santos

Dos Santos did not play for Barcelona B in its 1-1 road draw at Recreativo Huelva. He was called up to the La Liga side for its Champions League quarterfinal encounter with Shakhtar Donetsk. He did not play for Barca in its 1-0 second-leg win on Wednesday. Barca B is scheduled to host Real Betis on Sunday.

Pablo Barrera

Barrera did not dress for West Ham United for its 2-1 EPL home loss to Aston Villa on Saturday. West Ham allowed the winning goal in stoppage time. Next up is Chelsea on Saturday.

Rafa Márquez

Márquez, who hadn't had much luck on his corner kick attempts since joining the Red Bulls last summer, set up the first goal in the second minute of a 3-0 home victory over the San Jose Earthquakes in Major League Soccer action on Saturday. Márquez sent this attempt to the near left post to Jan Gunnar Solli, who flicked the ball to Dane Richards at the other end of the penalty area. Richards found Luke Rodgers, who scored his first MLS goal. The Red Bulls visit D.C. United on Thursday.

Efraín Juárez

Juárez did not dress for Celtic FC's 4-0 win over Aberdeen in Scottish Cup semifinals at Hampden Park in Glasgow. Celtic plays twice away this week – Kilmarnock on Wednesday at archrival Rangers on Sunday.

Omar Bravo

The striker missed Sporting Kansas City's 1-0 loss at the Columbus Crew with a sports hernia. Kansas City's next match is at the New England Revolution on Saturday.

Francisco Mendoza

Mendoza replaced Jorge Flores in the 75th minute of Chivas USA's scoreless draw with the expansion Vancouver Whitecaps on Saturday. Chivas plays at San Jose on Saturday.
