Amsterdam, Netherlands (SportsNetwork.com) - Ajax moved to within one point of PSV Eindhoven at the top of the Eredivisie table on Friday after securing a 2-0 home win over Groningen.
Ricardo Kishna put the hosts in front after 15 minutes, while Johan Kappelhof's own goal in the 90th minute sealed the win for the Amsterdam outfit, which is now unbeaten in 14 league contests.
A nice through ball from Lasse Schone released Kishna in behind the defense and he finished off the move with a low shot inside the right post.
Groningen had chances to level the contest, especially two quality looks at goal from Jarchinio Antonia, who should have done better, but the visitors ended up on the wrong end of a 2-0 final score with a mistake from Kappelhof in the closing minutes.
Nick Viergever's cross was put into a dangerous position and Kappelhof was only able to turn the ball into his own net.
