Aaron Rodgers is full of surprises.

When the Packers quarterback was named NFL MVP for the third time in his career earlier this month, Rodgers coyly announced his engagement — to actress Shailene Woodley, after only a few months of dating – and included Jodie Foster in his list of thank you’s.

Jodie Foster, the Oscar-winning actress? What’s her tie to Rodgers?

"He just knows I’m his biggest fan," Foster explained this week on "Jimmy Kimmel Live!"

Well, Foster is co-starring along Woodley in the upcoming film "The Mauritanian," so she might not even be his biggest fan on the set. Unless maybe she introduced the couple. That part remains unclear.

Foster told Conan O’Brien in 2016 that she watches the Packers play every weekend and became hooked on the cheesehead part of Packers fandom when she was introduced to the team by a friend. Rodgers included her in his list of people that make up his off-field team.

"You see, he said ‘my team,’ even though he said ‘off the field.’ That makes me a Green Bay Packer," Foster told Kimmel. "People keep saying to me, ‘No, Jodie, that does not mean you’re part of the team.’ But it does mean I’m part of the team."

Foster told Kimmel she does not know Rodgers. It seems coincidental that she and Woodley are in the same movie and were both referenced, even though Foster was name-dropped and Woodley was not.

"I don’t know if that’s a coincidence … and she’s fantastic," Foster said. "So we spent a lot of time on ‘The Mauritanian’ together in a little tent with a little air-conditioning spitting at us, talking about our lives, and recipes, and people we hate, and things like that."

After Kimmel added, "and the Green Bay Packers," Foster conceded, "and the Green Bay Packers somehow came up!"
