Krauthammer: Trump 'extremely good' at handling immigration policy in interviews

Charles Krauthammer told viewers Thursday on “Special Report with Bret Baier” that Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump is “extremely good” at handling the topic of immigration.

“He [Trump] dances and he dekes and he feints and then he disappears without backing it down,” Krauthammer, a syndicated columnist and Fox News contributor said.

Krauthammer was referring to Baier’s Thursday interview with Trump, during which the real estate mogul was challenged about his previous criticism of former GOP candidate Mitt Romney’s stand on illegal immigration. Romney had supported self-deportation of illegal immigrants during his campaign.

Krauthammer noted when Trump was asked about his statement at the time saying self-deportation being “crazy and mean-spirited,” he denied ever having said that.

“Well, in fact he did [say that],” Krauthammer said, “[Self-deportation] is a lot softer than the forcible deportation, which he is advocating now.”
