Solicitor General Elena Kagan heads to the Hill to meet with the heads of Senate leadership and the Judiciary Committee. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., gets the first visit at 10:00 a.m. ET, and she finishes her day with Senate Majority Whip Richard Durbin, D-Ill, in the afternoon.

Kagan isn’t the only high-profile visitor tomorrow. Afghan President Hamid Karzai meets with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., and Minority Leader John Boehner, R-Ohio, at 5:00 p.m. ET. After their meeting, Pelosi and Boehner will hold a media avail to discuss their meeting with the Afghan leader.

After several false starts Senators Joseph Lieberman, I-Conn., and John Kerry, D-Mass., introduce their comprehensive energy legislation. For more information on the bill, please see my earlier post on the issue.

The Congressional probe into the cause of the Deepwater Horizon oil rig explosion continues Wednesday on the House side of the Capitol. The Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations holds a hearing with BP, Transocean, and Halliburton executives at 10:00 a.m. ET to examine safety measures and the emergency response to the incident.

Several Democratic members of the House aren’t waiting for the Deepwater Horizon investigation to continue before taking action on offshore oil drilling. Rep. Frank Pallone, D-N.J., and others plan to introduce legislation at 11:30 a.m. ET to curtail new offshore drilling nationwide.

Gotta go gotta GO! That may be harder than you think if you’re a woman in need of a restroom in a federal building. Luckily the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee will address that very issue at a hearing for the “Restroom Gender Parity in Federal Buildings Act,” at 10:00 a.m. ET.
