President Obama demonstrated the power of new technology, community organizing, and listening to citizen voices when he campaigned in 2008.
Liberty Central studied these tools and is applying similar techniques for those inclined towards limited constitutional government, individual liberty, personal responsibility, free enterprise, and national security. These techniques are available to citizen activists at LibertyCentral.org, where we listen to, inspire, and activate them to secure the blessings of liberty.
More than 2,300 people are running for 471 House and Senate seats in the midterms. That's the highest number of new candidates in at least 35 years, according to data provided to the Associated Press by the Federal Election Commission, which began tracking candidates in 1975.
There are more conservative minorities, women, entrepreneurs, and military people rising to public service than ever before—and Liberty Central welcomes the new leaders of the future! Washington is broken and we need clear leaders and patriots, not polished political hacks.
Incumbents in both parties – some of whom have been in office for decades – are either being defeated in primary elections (see: Arlen Specter, Alan Mollohan) and conventions (see: Bob Bennett), or deciding to retire (see: House Appropriations Committee Chairman David Obey, who’s been in office since 1969).
The rise of the Tea Party movement is impacting the ballot box while most of the mainstream media, in a sign of its own demise, has either mocked it or deemed it irrelevant. Washington and the political consultant class are lagging indicators and they cannot keep up with the people now.
There is a rumbling and awakening across this country and people are primed to focus on places that may be able to deliver a message to Washington – just like the wake-up call that was delivered in Massachusetts with the election of a moderate Republican in Scott Brown.
Liberty Central’s market research tells us that we are not alone. There are 14 million conservative activists and 43 million additional information seekers and that number is growing. Those 57 million Americans are but a beginning of this new revolution for our founding principles.
Most exciting, this movement resembles what the authors of "Starfish and the Spider," Ori Brafman and Rod A. Beckstrom, preach about in their book when they describe the power of decentralized movements: the movement is from "We the People" and has no leaders!
In recent memory, I can’t recall seeing this many people eager to get educated, engaged, and active politically -- not just running for office but also getting involved in all phases of the electoral process. This all stems from a wake-up call Americans continue to receive from the current administration, as it continually flounders and grabs for more power over the citizenry. But the citizenry is saying, “stop and enough already.”
We won’t predict specific outcomes or numbers, but we will predict a rude wake-up call for the Washington establishment.
