Members of the victorious Baylor University Lady Bears basketball team were in for a treat during their White House visit on Monday — a buffet of McDonald’s, Chick-fil-A, Wendy’s and Burger King classics.

President Trump welcomed the star athletes to the Oval Office in celebration of their 2019 NCAA Division I Championship win, having defeated Notre Dame 82-81 earlier this month. The occasion marked the first women's basketball team – college or professional – to visit to the Trump White House.

As noted by USA Today, the official visit from the Texas collegians was something of a return to tradition. Neither of the previous two NCAA women’s basketball champion teams traveled to D.C., while neither of the WNBA victors received invites.

“It was a thrilling victory that people will be talking about for many, many more years to come,” the president said of the big game. “You've left an enduring mark on college basketball history.”

The players gave Trump a signed basketball, a national championship hat and a Baylor basketball jersey emblazoned with No. 1.

"It may not be the right size," longtime coach Kim Mulkey joked. "[First lady] Melania may look better in it."

According to images shared to social media by the basketball team, the feast apparently included Whoppers, Quarter Pounders, Chicken McNuggets and more.

“Good time at the State Dining Room! #SicEm,” reps for the Lady Bears wrote on Twitter.

Commenters, meanwhile, were largely less than impressed with the menu.

“So disrespectful. Hard work and accomplishment deserve to be honored,” one critic clapped.

“When your amazing accomplishment is just another punch line. Sigh,” another agreed.

“This is ridiculous and a terrible example for future athletes,” one offered. “There’s not even some salad or fruit to go along with this overheated, absolutely unfresh fast food.”

“Congratulations on the win sorry you got served fast food in the White House,” another laughed.

A supporter, meanwhile, defended the benevolent nature of the event, in a larger sense.

“Now to the rest of the world, was that so hard or so wrong? A team that accomplished something special took a once in a lifetime trip to the White House in celebration of that accomplishment,” a fan argued. “That's it. No politics.”

The meal marked the third fast food feast that the Trump White House served to college athletes visiting the executive mansion after a championship win in recent months. College Football Playoff National Championship champs Clemson Tigers dined on similar fare in January, as did the North Dakota State Bison, the seven-time NCAA Football Championship Subdivision winners, in March.
