Emily Ratajkowski is determined to show the world that she’s more than just the “Blurred Lines” girl.
The 25-year-old model, who is one of several celebrity cover girls for Marie Claire’s seven “Fresh Face” issues, revealed why she wants to be recognized as both a sex symbol and a feminist.
“In every profile written about me, there is, ‘She’s so sexual and she’s such a sex symbol,’ paired with, ‘But, wow, she knows about politics,’” explained Ratajkowski. “And that in itself is sexist. Why does it have to be one or the other?”
Ratajkowski first found fame when she danced topless in Robin Thicke’s 2013 music video. These days, she’s looking to expand on her career beyond racy snaps.
“I am way more interested in working with unexpected and cool directors on interesting projects than being in this big studio movie where you’re in a bikini,” she added. “I turn down a lot of movies, but I have to fight for the ones that I really want.”
