Selena Gomez did not let her breakup with Justin Bieber get in the way of her special evening on Monday, as the singer stepped out solo in New York City looking elegant and happy.
Entertainment site Zap 2 It is reporting that SelGo dazzled in a white gown at the Glamour’s 2012 Women of the Year awards ceremony. The “Wizards of Waverly Place” actress was honored with the magazine’s award and the opportunity to grace the publication’s cover.
While giving her acceptance speech, Gomez got a bit emotional thanking all of the “women that I can only aspire to be as good as they are one day.”
"I just want to share to all the girls out there that you have a voice, you have a chance to do what you love, whether that is acting or singing. And just being true to who you are," she said.
Meanwhile on the other side of town, Gomez’s ex Justin Bieber performed at the Barclays Center.

Since the news surfaced that the two were no longer a couple, Bieber has been in a solemn mood.
In an interview with the Open House Party radio show on Saturday, Bieber was at a loss for words.
"I don't know what to say," he said, neither confirming nor denying the news.
"I don't know what's going on in my life. To even assess that it doesn't make sense 'cause I have not made any comment."
On Friday, E! Online revealed that the couple had split a week ago with Gomez being the one who ultimately decided to end things.
"Because of their crazy schedules, it was getting harder and harder to maintain a relationship," the source told the entertainment site.
Rumors about the breakup started flying over the past two weeks, especially after Bieber was spotted in public with Victoria's Secret model Barbara Palvin, 19, who went with him to see "The Lion King" on Broadway.
