The Rolling Stones are all just trying to be there for Mick Jagger right now.
The band members, still recovering from the shocking news that L’Wren Scott apparently committed suicide on Monday, all released statements showing their support for Jagger.
“No-one saw this coming…Mick’s always been my soul brother and we love him…” Keith Richards said in a statement. “We’re thick as thieves and we’re all feeling for the man…we really hate to disappoint our fans but we’ll see everyone really soon.”
The Stones postponed the remaining shows they had scheduled for the Australia and New Zealand portion of their tour following Scott’s death.
Ronnie Wood added, "This is such terrible news and right now the important thing is that we are all pulling together to offer Mick our support and help him through this sad time. Without a doubt we intend to be back out on that stage as soon as we can".
No information has been released regarding when the concerts that were scheduled for the next few days may take place.
"Needless to say we are all completely shocked but our first thought is to support Mick at this awful time,” Charlie Watts stated. “We intend to come back to Australia and New Zealand as soon as it proves possible.”
Police said that Scott was found hanged by an assistant in her New York City apartment at about 10 a.m. on Monday. The prominent fashion designer had been dating Jagger for about 13 years. She was 49 years old.
On Tuesday, Jagger thanked fans for their support in a statement posted on his Facebook page.
“I am still struggling to understand how my lover and best friend could end her life in this tragic way,” he wrote. “We spent many wonderful years together and had made a great life for ourselves… I will never forget her.”
