Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger took to Facebook to open up about the death of his girlfriend of 13 years, fashion designer L’Wren Scott, who apparently hanged herself.
“I am still struggling to understand how my lover and best friend could end her life in this tragic way,” Jagger wrote on his Facebook page along with a photo of Scott. “We spent many wonderful years together and had made a great life for ourselves. She had great presence and her talent was much admired, not least by me.”
He thanked his fans for their support.
“I have been touched by the tributes that people have paid to her, and also the personal messages of support that I have received.
“I will never forget her,” he wrote.
Scott’s body was discovered by an assistant in her Manhattan apartment. She was 49.
The Utah native and Jagger, 70, were very much together at the time of his death, his rep said, calling a report that they had split recently “a horrible and inaccurate piece of gossip during this very tragic time for Mick.”
The Rolling Stones announced they were postponing all of their upcoming Australia and New Zealand concerts.
"The Rolling Stones are deeply sorry and disappointed to announce the postponement of the rest of their 14 ON FIRE tour of Australia and New Zealand following the death of L’Wren Scott," the band stated, adding that they hope that fans "will fully understand the reason for this announcement."
A source told FOX411 that Scott had been struggling personally and professionally for several years, and business records show her high-end fashion label was having financial issues.
Scott's rep has asked for privacy for her family during this difficult time.
