Mother of two Rachel Hollis posted a picture wearing a two piece bathing suit proudly showing off her stretch marks from her pregnancies last week. That single pic inspired a slew of other women to share their post-body tummies.
Hollis’s pic went viral when she captioned her snapshot, “They aren’t scars ladies, they’re stripes and you’ve earned them. Flaunt that body with pride!”
And so an army of mothers heard her battle cry – over 12,000 people have commented on Hollis’ picture so far- and have begun to show their stomachs in attempt to buck the belief that all women who had kids need to wear a one-piece the rest of their lives.
One woman wrote in response to Hollis’ pic: “I gave birth to my last baby (my third son) 6 months ago. I have many stretch marks... and my confidence has plummeted. Reading this has made me realize how I'm seeing everything in the wrong way... "
While another said, “Thank you for sharing this! Finally another woman who's stomach looks like mine."
Hollis was "overwhelmed" by the response to her vacation photo, and once again took to her blog saying: “People keep asking me my reaction to everything that has happened, and I am so overwhelmed. Because this is not anything that I did, this is something that you did."
