Madonna hit out at journalists who mention her age in articles, claiming that the practice makes her appear "not that relevant."
Looking much younger than her 53 years in her glossy photo shoot for the December issue of Harper's Bazaar, the Queen of Pop told the magazine, "I find whenever someone writes anything about me, my age is right after my name."
She added, "It's almost like they're saying, 'Here she is, but remember, she's this age, so she's not that relevant anymore.'"
Despite graduating from high school 35 years ago, the songstress said that the pressures of fame made her feel like she never really left.
"I feel like I never left high school, because I still feel that if you don't fit in, you're going to get your ass kicked," she said. "That hasn't really changed for me. I've always been acutely aware of differences and the way you are supposed to act if you want to be popular."
She admitted that she was teased by boys at school who called her "Hairy Monster" because of her refusal to shave her armpits.
