With the growing number of Spanish speakers across the United States, actress Gwyneth Paltrow wants her kids Apple, 9, and Moses, 7, to be ahead of the curve. In an effort to make them bilingual, the Oscar-winning actress reportedly encourages them to speak with her only in Spanish, Us Weekly reports.

The website reports that while at Cameron Diaz’s Beverly Hills home for the Oct. 12 wedding of Diaz’s assistant Jesse Lutz, Paltrow, 41, requested her kids speak to her in Spanish solamente.

“Gwyneth reminded them through the party,” a witness told Us Weekly. “At one point, Apple came to her table and asked, in Spanish, if she could fit on her lap.”

Paltrow herself is fluent in Spanish after spending time in high school as an exchange student in Talavera de la Reina, Spain.

While urging her children to become bilingual, the “Iron Man 3” actress, who is married to Coldplay frontman Chris Martin, has had to previously defend her parenting style.

In an interview with British magazine Red, Paltrow said she does not care what people think about her choices.

“I’ve made it work for me, but it doesn’t matter what my specific thing is,” she said. “It’s like, what’s your specific thing? How do you want your life to look? It doesn’t matter what anyone else thinks. It matters what you think of yourself. And what your children think … I’d say, do what is right for you and don’t give a s--t what anyone else thinks.”
