'Game of Thrones' actress joins protest for Brexit in London

'Game of Thrones' star Lena Headey was among those protesting Brexit in London over the weekend. The 45-year-old actress posted several pictures from the event on Instagram, encouraging others to say ‘no to Schmexit.’

“Game of Thrones” actress Lena Headey is taking a cue from her character and getting politically involved. The star posted several images of herself at a protest march in London over the weekend.

The 45-year-old actress took to Instagram over the weekend where she shared an image of herself at the Put It To The People march, designed to call on the British government for a second referendum on the upcoming Brexit. Many in the country are advocating for the referendum to be brought back to the people believing it was hastily pushed forward the first time before a lot of the people could adequately understand the impact of an exit from the European Union.

“Let’s have a think shall we,” Headey wrote in the caption to her first photo, which shows her with her back to the camera holding up a fist in protest surrounded by fellow marchers.

She captioned a follow-up post showing her alongside what appear to be friends of hers at the event that reads: “Saying NO to Schmexit and YES YES YES TO CHOOSING LOVE.”

According to Deadline, Headey wasn’t the only celebrity advocating for staying the EU at the march. “Stand & Ollie” actor Steve Coogan was in attendance as well as Claudia Winkleman, Meera Syal, Delia Smith and singer Billy Bragg. “Star Trek” actor Patrick Stewart was reportedly among those that sponsored coach buses to bring marchers to London.

The march was reportedly one of the biggest ever in British history after more than five million people signed a petition to halt Brexit after the government extended the deadline to April 12.
