While Lindsay Lohan is busy serving her sentence behind bars, her handlers are desperately trying to find the right rehabilitation facility for her. And according to sources close to the troubled actress, that could mean an "alternative" approach that focuses on diet and exercise as a means to recover.

According to TMZ, Lohan will attend rehab in California so that she can be closely guarded by her personal posse. While she is expected to be released from prison as early as this week, it is almost a certainty that the 24-year-old won’t have the “luxury” of an early release from rehab.

“In Lindsay’s case, a 30-day program just isn’t enough for her,” Brenner added. “The Judge knows that, and won’t be letting her off a day early.”

But while the judge is holding firm to Lohan’s rehab sentencing, we’re told that the Lohan camp has been looking into placing her at California’s Malibu Beach Recovery Center, which offers a somewhat different approach to recovery than the typical rehabilitation facility.

“It’s based on holistic types of treatment – things like yoga, meditation and focus on a healthy, nutritious diet,” Los Angeles-based chemical addiction specialist Marty Brenner told us. “It isn’t a 12-step program, but it is a place that will probably be very good for Lindsay. Right now, any place that’s going to help her detox and get off the prescription medications will be good for her.”

According to Malibu Beach Recovery Center’s website, Lohan’s treatment will include a special diet “based on the finest traditions of French cuisine” that will prohibit all caffeine, white rice, white bread, sugar and potatoes. In addition, she will take a series of “bio-active supplements” to compliment the program’s daily exercise regimen.

And despite rampant reports to the contrary, Lohan isn’t as devastated or emotionally uncontrollable as she has been portrayed.

"Lindsay is doing okay, of course it's not great, but she's okay," a source close to the starlet told Pop Tarts. "She's getting by the best she can and is coping surprisingly well. This is all a step in the right direction.”

Lohan’s legal representative did not respond for comment.
