Duggars defend handling of molestation scandal

A new report by In Touch claims the Duggar family was being investigated as recently as May 27, and a 911 call regarding the Duggars was placed on that date by a Washington County Department of Human Services (DHS) worker because the DHS was allegedly being denied access to a minor in the family.
The call was supposedly just days after a May 19 report by In Touch revealed Josh Duggar had sexually abused five females – including four sisters -- when he was 14 or 15 back in 2002 and 2003. Josh Duggar, his parents, and two of his sisters—Jessa Seewald and Jill Dillard—have since spoken openly about the abuse.
After the revelations about the Duggars hit the web, the Arkansas Department of Human Services reportedly launched a new investigation into the family made famous by the TV show “19 Kids and Counting.”
The latest issue of In Touch magazine contains a transcript of the 911 call that was allegedly made regarding the Duggar family. In supposed printed transcript of the call, the caller identifies the home they are calling about by saying “Address is the Duggar family home.”
The alleged transcript states the caller said the following when asked for the reason for the call: “Well, we’re Washington County DHS office we’re out here to, we have an investigation, and I guess they’re not being cooperative. We have to see the child to make sure the child is all right. So we just need police assistance or escort.”
In Touch’s transcript states the call was then transferred to Washington County and there is no further information of what happened after that. The Washington County Sheriff’s Office did not return FOX411’s request for comment.
The Washington County DHS directed FOX411 to the Arkansas DHS, who told us, “In Arkansas all child maltreatment investigations are confidential by law.” The department could neither confirm nor deny if the Duggars were being investigated or had been investigated recently.
It wouldn’t be the first time the DHS looked into the Duggar family. Back in 2006, the Duggars were questioned by police and later investigated by the DHS when someone called a hotline to report the rumored abuse the family has since admitted occurred.
Seewald recently spoke exclusively to Fox News’ Megyn Kelly about the abuse and she made mention of the first DHS investigation the family endured.
“I think definitely like when we were doing the DHS investigation and they're asking you to tell your story -- I mean, it's one thing to talk to mom and dad and say, 'Wow, okay, this happened,' you know, but it's another thing when a complete stranger is like, 'Tell me your story here,'" she recalled.
Dillard also mentioned the DHS investigation when speaking with Kelly and she praised how her parents handled the situation. She claimed the DHS was impressed with her parents as well.
“…Even when we went through the DHS investigation, they complimented my parents on what an amazing job they did through that process… As a mom, I hope that I can set the same safeguards in my family that they did…”
A rep for the Duggar family did not return FOX411’s request for comment.
