With star Demi Lovato in treatment for "emotional and physical issues," Disney Channel has found a way to rework her TV series around her absence.

Disney and Sonny with a Chance  producers will temporarily restructure the series to focus on the show-within-a-show, So Random!, Variety reports.

Each Sonny With a Chance episode will feature comedy sketches, musical performances, digital shorts and guest stars for the teen sketch comedy show, So Random! The first special full episode of So Random! aired on Oct. 17.

"This allows her the time she needs to get well, without distraction or pressure," a Disney Channel spokeswoman told the trade paper. "Again, we extend our ongoing support to Demi and her family as she works to overcome personal issues."

Sonny With a Chance stars Lovato as Sonny Munroe, who moves from the Midwest to Los Angeles to join the cast of So Random!  Season 3 is set to begin production in January.

Lovato, 18, dropped out of the Jonas Brothers tour on Nov. 1 to seek treatment for what her reps called "emotional and physical issues."
