The stars of Amazon’s upcoming "Cinderella" remake are getting roasted on social media after they reportedly stopped traffic in Los Angeles for a flash mob in an apparent effort to promote the film.

The film will mark singer Camila Cabello’s debut acting role as she takes on the fairy tale character who defies her evil stepsisters and engages in some hijinks involving a ball, a slipper and magic. However, an apparent viral marketing campaign for the movie in Los Angeles caught the attention of social media for all the wrong reasons.

James Corden, Billy Porter, Idina Menzel and Cabello were recorded closing out an intersection in Los Angeles as they and a handful of backup dancers sang along and danced to Jennifer Lopez’s "Let’s Get Loud."

In a video posted by one of the cars that were stopped for the event, the group of stars can be seen jumping for joy and singing in costumes that look plucked directly from the upcoming film. Corden, dressed as a mouse, at one point goes up to the driver’s side window and thrusts his pelvis as he sings the chorus of the song.

It’s unclear if this is was a viral promotion for the film or a bit that will appear on Corden’s "Late Late Show" on CBS. However, those who saw the video online were quick to take to social media to lambaste the group for the stunt.

"America, you’re welcome to keep Corden. Yours, Great Britain," one user joked.

"It would have been great if you didn't block traffic to promote your movies. Some people aren't privileged and lucky enough to get fame and money and have to go to work to make ends meet," another user wrote.

"I am officially scarred by James Corden doing hip thrusts. I will never be able to listen to this song the same way ever again," someone else joked.

"imagine having a terrible day and then on ur way home ur forced to watch camila cabello and james corden dance right in front of u..this would sent me over the edge," another wrote

As Elle notes, production on "Cinderella" has been over for a while, but like many movies in 2020 saw their release date waylaid by the coronavirus pandemic out of fear of opening to a limited audience. It has since landed at Amazon Prime Video, where users will be able to stream it right in their homes starting on Sept. 3, 2021.
