Celebs support International Women's Day

LOS ANGELES – Celebrities around the country came together Wednesday in solidarity to celebrate International Women’s Day.

In Los Angeles, a rally was held across the street from City Hall with about 1,000 participants, most of whom wore red. Emiliana Guereca, co-organizer of the Women’s March LA, told Fox News it was crucial for women around the country to get involved in support of women’s rights.

“Get involved,” she said. “I think one of the biggest issues and challenges we have is to put females in leadership positions, to elevate them, to run for office, to be in a positon where they educate and elevate more women. I think that is key.”

In the crowd at the rally, women and men chanted, "We will resist against hate...gender conformity...hatred and bigotry...and against any oppression."

Many celebs also took to social media to support the day and women around the world.

However, Guereca doesn’t think this movement is entirely celebrity driven.

“I think people look up to celebrities but I don’t think this is a celebrity movement," she said. "I think this is very grassroots. I think that it is a friend of a friend bringing a friend. I think it is parents getting involved as well. I don’t see this as a celebrity movement, but fantastic they are involved because it gets the word out.”

And even NFL star Tom Brady supported the women in his life and around the country.
