The original pop tart, Britney Spears, is definitely growing older, having turned 32 this month — but is she getting any wiser?

In an interview Thursday with Univision’s “Despierta America,” Spears, who takes up a two-year residence at Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas on Dec. 27, mentioned that Madonna and Jennifer Lopez had both served as an inspiration for her.

Then the interview verged into what turned out to be more dangerous turf. Spears was asked what her favorite aspect of Latino culture was. She answered, “I think it’s very sexy. I’ve always liked Latino men. They make me think of a bad-boy type that your father wouldn't let you go out with.”

Then interviewer Luis Sandoval followed up with the hard-hitting, “Who’s your perfect man?”  To which Spears affected a bad Hispanic accent while answering, “Just talk like you.”

To close the segment, Sandoval asked Spears if she spoke any Spanish. Her reply was a second or two of high-pitched, 100-mile-an-hour gibberish, that caused the singer to crack herself up.

The entire segment may have seemed a lot less funny to Latinos across the country.

Blogger Perez Hilton called Spears an “accidental racist,” saying, “We realize the hot-blooded Latino male is a super prevalent stereotype, but you can't judge people based on their ethnicity!”

It caused the International Business Times to pose the question, “Britney Spears Racist?” and quoted one viewer’s reaction: “I hope at least someone whispered to her, 'Hey, that's a racist generalization.'”
