Andrew Garfield reportedly invites 'Batkid' to Spidey premiere
“Batkid” Miles Scott was understandably disappointed when his segment with Andrew Garfield was cut from the Oscar broadcast but Spidey is proving to be spectacular in more ways than one.
Us magazine is reporting that Andrew Garfield has invited the 5-year-old cancer survivor to the New York City premiere of “The Amazing Spider-Man 2.’ The comic book action movie opens in theaters on May 2, while the splashy premiere will be on April 24.
Garfield and Miles were set to introduce a video tribute to superheroes at the 2014 Academy Award ceremony but were abruptly replaced by “Avengers” star Chris Evans. There were rumors that Garfield had pulled out causing the cancellation but his publicist strongly denied the claims.
“At some point overnight on Saturday/Sunday morning, it was decided by those running the show that the segment didn’t work in the ceremony,” explained the actor’s rep Rupert Fowler to Us. “They decided to pull it – Andrew and Miles were equally upset.”
To make up for the disappointment the producers hastily organized a Disneyland trip the following Monday. Garfield drove to join the family and brought Miles a present. Fowler continued, “Andrew did the right thing for “Batkid” and anyone saying otherwise is flat out lying.”
