American Idol: Skyler Lane Voted Out
Skyler Lane is voted out on American Idol and only four remain.
Skylar Laine was the new casualty on American Idol. The Mississippi native learned that after 60 million votes she would not go on in the singing competition.
Laine, 18, made it clear from the beginning of the season that she knew where her place was in the music industry.
“I know the kind of artist I want to be,” she said a few weeks back, explaining that country music is where her heart is and that she looks up to singers like Miranda Lambert.
“I only have four CD’s in my car,” lane said. “They are all hers.”
Laine performed a solid rendition of Dusty Springfield’s “You Don’t Have to Say You Love Me,” Wednesday night but had a few issues executing Creedence Clearwater Revival’s “Fortunate Son.”

Still, the judges praised her on her persistence and energy that she brings every time she takes the stage.
Ironically, it was Laine’s roommate and BFF on the show, Hollie Cavannagh, that America voted to stay instead of Laine.
Aerosmith front man Steven Tyler praised Cavannagh for “stepping out and singing the blues.”
“You just did it and showed me you got it in you,” Tyler said.
Jennifer Lopez and Randy Jackson were also impressed.
“It was nice to see you surrounded by a bigger production,” said Lopez. “[It’s] a different type of Hollie tonight out there. I could feel you.”
Cavannagh took on Tina and Ike Turner’s “River Deep Mountain High,” and then her rendition of Leona Lewis’ “Bleeding Love.”
Country music star and American Idol alum Carrie Underwood performed her new single “Blown Away,” and Coldplay performed “Paradise” and “Every Teardrop Is a Waterfall,” from their “Myli Xyloto” album.
The competition is down to four, with Hollie Cavannagh, Jessica Sanchez, Joshua Ledet and Phillip Phillips remaining.
