Actresses America Ferrera and Alexis Bledel are teaming up once again, but this time, it’s not for a Hollywood flick.

According to Mashable.com, the Honduran and Argentinean-Mexican starlets are joining forces for the 2012 Social Good Summit, a three-day event uniting global leaders to exchange ideas on how to use technology to solve global issues. The conference takes place on September 22nd-24th in New York City.

“The Social Good Summit brings together a truly global community, giving everyone a seat at the table in the discussion of the greatest challenges of our time,” said Aaron Sherinian, Vice President of Communications and Public Affairs for the United Nations Foundation, in an official statement. “But it isn’t enough to talk about these issues…social media is helping drive action and share knowledge so we can help create a better world.”

Ferrera and Bledel aren’t the only ones to share the same stage. They’ll be joined alongside Molly Kinder, Director for Agriculture and Europe Policy ONE, and Claire Diaz-Ortiz, Leader of Social Innovation at Twitter. The ladies will discuss how social media can be used to impact the lives of women living in poverty.

Ferrera, who recently visited her family’s home in Honduras, was inspired to channel her roots and team up with charity group One Campaign to help her parents’ homeland.

“I went with One Campaign, I asked them to shine a light on women and girls in Honduras, and I just got back from that trip,” explained Ferrera to viewers at a screening of her new PBS series, "Half the Sky," in New York. “What I have learned is that everyone around the world wants to be loved and to be able to protect ourselves and our families. In the end nothing else matters.”
