The last of the funerals for the nine victims of the Charleston church shooting is scheduled for South Carolina's capital city, followed by burial at the Fort Jackson National Military Cemetery.

The service for the Rev. Daniel Simmons Sr. is scheduled for Bethel AME Church in Columbia on Thursday.

An Army veteran, Simmons was a minister at several AME churches in the state. He was a graduate of Allen University and received a master's degree from the University of South Carolina.

Simmons is the last of the nine victims of the June 17 shootings at Charleston's predominantly black Emanuel AME to be buried. The nine were shot at a Bible study that Simmons regularly attended.

A white man, Dylann Storm Roof, faces nine counts of murder in the slayings.
