California police arrested “Narcocorrido” singer and Mexican reality star Larry Hernandez over a warrant charging him with kidnapping.
The Mexican singer was arrested Sept. 25 at the Ontario Airport in California and is being held without bail at West valley Detention center in Rancho Cucamonga, Billboard reported.
According to La Opinion, the allegations stem from an incident in South Carolina during a concert in mid-August, when Hernandez reportedly became angry after he was not paid the amount promised for his performance. The promoter wanted to pay Hernandez around $14,000 but the singer wanted $30,000.
The Los Angeles daily newspaper said the star of “Larrymania” on NBC Universo’s mun2 then allegedly held the concert promoter against his will and beat him up.
"They wrapped in plastic and started to beat him on the face and body and threw him against a brick," the police records said, according to La Opinion.
Hernandez was sought for questioning, but never showed up and a warrant was issued for his arrest.
The 35-year-old singer, who is very active on Twitter, has not posted anything on social media since his arrest. However, he has addressed the accusations made by the promoter in an interview with Telemundo earlier this month.
“In this business, a lot of people want to damage your image,” he said at the time. "That’s what I’m living now […] It’s all lies and time will tell."
Neither mun2 nor Universal, Hernandez’s label, have issued any statements.
