A Colombian billionaire may be a future princess.
Tatiana Santo Domingo, the granddaughter of a wealthy beer and oil baron worth over $8 billion, is engaged to the son of Monaco’s Princess Caroline, Andrea Casiraghi, the princess said in a statement Wednesday. The two, who have been together for seven years, will wed next year, Italian Vogue is reporting.
Casiraghi, the nephew of Monaco’s ruling sovereign, Prince Albert II, is the second in line to the throne after his mother. He is the grandchild of Hollywood legend Grace Kelly.
Santo Domingo is the granddaughter of Julio Mario Santo Domingo, who died last year and who was part of one of Colombia’s richest families. She’s the daughter of Julio Mario Santo Domingo, Jr., and Brazilian socialite Vera Rechulski.
According to Forbes, the Santo Domingo family owns Colombia’s dominant TV station, Caracol, and had a stake in beer brewer SABMiller, and owned states in packaging maker Biofilm. Her grandfather was the richest man in Colombia, with a fortune of $8.5 billion behind banker Luis Carlos Sarmiento, who’s worth $10.5 billion.
According to Univision News, the young couple met while in boarding school in Paris. She was named Vanity Fair’s International Best-Dressed in 2010.
The two attended last year’s wedding of Prince Albert to Charlene Wittstock, a former Olympic swimmer.
