Lee Ann Womack: Non-country artists are 'not nice'

Lee Ann Womack has been to a lot of awards shows in her day, and she’s pretty used to how they operate. One thing she isn’t used to, however, is being treated poorly —  especially by other artists — and she isn’t afraid to let them know it.

While on the 2016 Grammys red carpet, Womack caught up with CBS News, who asked what it was like to be surrounded by entertainers outside of the country music realm.

“Well it’s interesting for someone like me who really mostly listens to country and bluegrass, really traditional American music … to get to see all the other genres, and the way they behave a lot of the times, which is not so nice,” Womack admits to the reporter. “They’re not very nice, and neither are there bodyguards, I have to tell you that.”

The reporter prodded to try to get Womack to namedrop, but the country star was being honest in saying she had no idea who they were. “I don’t even know who they are. I just don’t like getting pushed around by somebody twice my size,” she continues, noting that that better never happen in country music.

Womack was nominated at this year’s Grammy Awards for Best Country Song for her tune “Chances Are.”
