Lifetime’s hit show “Devious Maids” took TV by storm in its first season. As the cast and its executive producer Eva Longoria prepared for its second season’s they sat down with Latina for the May 2014 issue to talk about their controversial start and how they branded together.
Judy Reyes said her initial reaction to the show’s script was asking why did the show need to be about maids.
“Latinos were defensive because we’ve been maligned in media,” she said. “We’ve always played gardeners, gangbangers, maids and sluts in films that star white people. But this is not that. We’re trying to represent these women with as much dignity and honest as we can.”
